Nice to hear from you! Are you moving close to where you live now or to a completely different neighbourhood?

I’ve gotten a year older recently and at the beginning of this year I also went back to school, and I’m now trying to wrap up my University studies. That means writing a master’s thesis, which isn’t going very well… No motivation, no inspiration, no time, but I must push on. I also have two courses and some silly bureaucratical stuff to do.

Other than that, nothing much. Playing Xbox all weekend-nights long (um, only after attempting to do something for the thesis of course).

I used Moneris for over two years. I recently terminated due to a merchant compliance requirement – Moneris began charging $20.00 per month because I did not complete their third party compliance even though I did – The process is flawed – After termination I was charged $250 to my bank account even though I have not sign a contract and was not told at time I terminated. After 2 weeks and 4 calls, Moneris representative returned my call. He was arrogant, self serving and was obviously twisting the truth. The story is still in progress but Moneris is deficient in customer service and general unethical practices.

I just had Moneris reps walk into my shop today! At first, the meeting went quite nicely. Very customer friendly reps. They gave me the following vis 1.59% m/c 1.64% interac 5cents equipment rental fee 34.00 , non qualifed fee .25% and inter change is same ,,,,all these rates were handwritten on a blank paper, so i actually didnt see the actual rates they promised. anyone heard of card brand fees by moneris. I phoned TD and they assured me they werent making money and to inquire if the rates go up after 6 months. The part I found wierd is that she didnt want to give me the piece of paper with the rates on it. I had to force her to give me the rates. I think I will be staying with TD but I didnt have a good feeling about it. Just sayin.

Just got a call, somewhat same story.
John Walker called, terrible connection, and a rattle of other telemarketers in the background.

The company name was Suite Life Vacations. The website at first glance looks legit, but I’m not buying this.

They said I won either a cruise or a 5 night stay at a 5 star resort. I just had to pick. They didn’t mention a dinner or a presentation, he said there was no seminar, but simply to show up somewhere and choose my prize.

He ended the conversation with telling me somebody would call in 5 minutes to give me the location of their office. Also, he said I would receive my prize coupon number in the mail.

The phone rang a few minutes later, but I didn’t answer. I’ve been scammed before with an Alarm system, and I don’t need to go through that again.

This guy wasn’t pushy or rude or anything… probably just trying to make a buck at work, but I’m not interested. Nothing is free.

Just wanted to let people know that Suite Life Vacations is the same this as this CVS/TVS/Canadian Value… etc.

This is a SCAM!!!!please be aware! I got the call this morning At 9:00am .Everything said above is true!!! The guy told me about the “coupon” i filled out in the summer! I asked him where and when I filled this coupon out and his answer was ” there were 65 ballot boxes in all of ontario” he even mentioned the stores…walmarts, nofrills(where i shop),malls, hospitals. They are very convincing,, he even asked me why i was not excited…lol my responce:” because Im having a hard time believing you”… he laughed ” i assure you this is real” BS…. PLEASE DONT FALL FOR THIS CRAP!!!!!again he told me his manager will call me in 5 minutes….which someone known as Mike Harrison who clearly had and indian accent. and he tells me i have to go to Woodbridge,Ontario to claim my prize!!!!BS you should never have to go anywhere to claim a prize!!!! I gave him my email and told him to email me so i can get the company name so i can GOOGLE!!! SO hes suppose to call me tommorrow morning to confirm the email being receieved!!! I am furious that this can happen and is still happening to ppl out there that will most likely fall for it bc they have a place and address and they are VERY VERY convincing!!! The worst part is how they get these ppl to go there! I told this guy “mike” that If I tell my husband about this he would proably tell him off and he laughed!!! the whole thing sounded fishy to begin with … going there for 90 min refreshments bulls***… i want to call consumer reports guy from global tv to see if they know about this suitlife vacations this… ohh and i believe they get you name from facebook because i never fill out a ballot with my maiden name and last name together!! here is the email i was sent:

I have a strong feeling that 535 calories is an absurdly incorrect estimation of the dish. If you estimate by eye the amounts of calories of the ingredients when they prepare the dish in front of you, there is at least 2 cups of rice noodles to start with, which is around 600-700 all by itself. Depending on the cook, you get from 1 1/2 tbps to 3 tbps of oil, which is about 180-360. Plus the egg, if large 90 calories…I think we are quite far from the 535. The salt content is harder to estimate but by taste, I’d reckon at least a 30% percent of the daily value. And depending on the cook and the amount of spicy sauce added (by me)…let’s just say the I’d better drink a whole lot of water. Guess we can figure out why it’s so delicious, haha.

I was just talking to a Moneris representative on the phone today. I asked about interchange + pricing. And he must have thought I had heard to ask for interchange pricing but that I didn’t know much details about it. He tried to convince me that interchange pricing includes 1.65% base fee + 0.25% for rewards type cards + the interchange fee on top of that. When I asked him how much the interchange fees are he said they are usually between 0.3% and 0.7%. However on the Visa and Mastercard interchange fee schedule on their website it lists ecommerce fees around 1.55%.

After I brought it up a 2nd and 3rd time he attempted to play it off that other vendors also offer it and to ask them about it. Even tho I told him I’ve spoken to multiple merchant services and no one has ever mentioned this ‘base rate’. He answered the phone as Ravi. At the end when I asked him for his extension # and name he had changed it to ‘Ali’ after I asked to confirm it was Ravi. And also I asked him to send me a quote by email which was also not sent (no surprise).

If this type of behavior is being done by their sales people, it is no doubt structured that way from the top. These are unethical business people and everyone should be very wary and careful when dealing with these guys. And by being careful I mean look elsewhere for a merchant!

This sounds all too much like the people I was dealing. I did go to the presentation and left early. I left with a voucher for 4 nights in Orlando, Florida and 3 nights at the beach ( Daytona or Ft. Lauderdale). A $25.00 processing fee was required for the voucher.

Thanks, Janice, I guess. Except I don’t know if I want 15 years if I’ll feel like shit with pukiness, headaches, strange vision. Plus I’ve been to that doctor’s appointment that was after this post, and he showed me that the cancer was all over my temporal lobe, not just that area they were showing me. So of course I think, ‘what was the point of all this?’

Don’t want to seem negative, cuz usually I don’t seem like that to people. But I’d like to actually feel good

Just got the call today and told them that i would be coming to pick up the lap top and nothing else, no show no speech and no other prize, they were shocked. Then i emailed the ministry of consumer services. Please file a complaint it is not fair that innocent people get roped in to these crimes. I once was promised an i pod if i went to a presentation, i went only for the i pod and it was a piece of junk that did not work. So there you go never again.

Well I’m glad you’re not dead!

Radiation therapy generally doesn’t cause baldness unless it’s specifically aimed at your head – the chemotherapy does.

Very basically most chemotherapy drugs aim to kill fast dividing cells, which most cancer cells do. However chemotherapy gets pumped all around your body so it doesn’t just target the cancer cells, it targets other fast dividing cells such as in your stomach lining (hence extreme nausea) and hair on your head which causes hair loss (your hair cells divide quickly, it why hair grows). Other hairs like eyebrow and pubic aren’t affected as badly because that hair grows much more slowly than head hair (it takes a long time to grow back eyebrows for example )

I’m also a big fan on Thai Express. I just finished having the Pad Sew with Beef today for lunch and brought the take-out box home with me. I just recently checked the calories for each different dish. Go on Google and type in ” Thai Express caliries” and the first site on the page that says nutritional facts and so on. Hope this helps:)

Thanks guys for your wishes. Minna, as far as I know there’s no surgery involved. And I can’t help but wonder how surgery would work out – a big scar in my head? No hair in a spot on my head. Nobody’s said anything about surgery, I guess I’ll hear more or less about it when I meet up with that doctor again in one month.

The thai exprees sounds pretty good. Even though I havent tried it but from what I read it seems to be satisfying and nutritious. Based on the ingredients itself, i think it has low calories.

I’ve never had a problem with them. But their level of service and response to your situation, sucks!!! Customer service just gets worst and worst everyday.

If they have a twitter account, @mention them and link to your post and see what happens! Sometimes you can get a good response, like my friend and the problem he had with his water heater. They didn’t answer calls, emails, but once he mentioned it on Twitter, had a response like 1/2 hr later.

If it makes you feel any better, now that I’ve said I’ve never had a problem with them. You know whats going to happen the next time I have a delivery

Hi guys. Can you please advise me before making a decision?
Here is my story. I travel a lot in my small business and wanted a mobile plan that includes Roaming since I do need to use my phone when I am in Canada or US. Telus is the only one that provides a business plan with a 250 min of North American roaming. From my past experience with them 7 years ago, I had been over billed every month and was happy to pay a $200 penalty and cancel my contract and go with Fido instead. I had lost my trust in Telus billing system ever since and have had no interest going with them. Now that they are the only ones who do offer roaming, I have no choice, but I am very scared of signing a 3 year term with them as I am almost certain they will try to hit me somehow with some sort of additional charges, minutes, data…. My question is: are they still the same thieves or had they changed? The guy who works there told me few years ago they were not very good but now they have improved their billing system… how do you find your billing with them? Do you get over charged? Do you find them trying to rob you (like they did to me in the past) or do you find their billing to be fair? Please let me know

I don’t know if you saw the article in the newspaper the other day (Toronto Star I believe). Thai Express’ chicken pad thai has 1131 cal and 40g of fat. It is basically just oil and soy sauce, in noodles that have barely any nutritional value. If that did not scare you the sodium content 2594mg. My suggestion, make your lunch at home. Thai can be pretty easy and fast to prepare. This is coming from someone who use to like Thai Express very much, but the amount of fat and calories I just listed are more then 3 McDonalds hamburgers.

Actually, the link posted is right. If you do a search for Thai Express Pad Thai it comes up with the following info.

How do we know that its correct when they don’t even give the information on the Thai Express website? My guess is it contains 1500cal. I also received a call from Mr. Wilson. I have been a member of RCI, and Geo for many years so I am very aware of how the “time” share goes. What everyone ia saying above and on the other web sites.. is the truth…CVS are scamming you. I went just for the fun of it cause my friend was going to the Brass Pro Shop. The food offer was finger sandwichs, beverage, cake. Same East Indian lady giving the opening “speel” as written above and the “canadian” rep who did the white board presentation…was also the same. I already knew it was BS..but was ready for some fun. After the presentation, they took me to a table with the same yellow legal pad and started with the points and $21,000. When I told them I was a member of RCI (my father works there and we get the cheap trips that way too!!)& GEO…and I get to take my vacations at numerous resorts around the world, with no fee..they went balistic…started arguing with me…and sent another manager…(trust me I was laughing inside…hard to keep a straight face)who told me that they were much better than GEO…and gave me a cheaper price…boy they tried with 10 different people(russian…which I speak,..east indian, etc) until they were offering me the 5 year trial package…I told them why would I buy two vacation packages? It would be like owning 3 cars I cant afford and I cant drive at the same time…well that was it. He became very upset and sent me to the “office” where the last person tried to convience me…gave me my free package prizes that cost 29.95 plus another 600 in fee’s when you book them…which you can only book between May 1st and June 2 (30 day window)…no holidays, weekends ect…if you book it during the “High Season” you can add another 13.00 per night per person fee. Do the math two people will cost you over 700.00 for your “free” prize.
Stay away!!!!

If you want a vacation package do your research!!! And nothing is free.
PS…they are using various Ontario Limited numbered companies registered to the same address : 7700 Pine Valley Drive Box 72029, Woodbridge On L4L 2X0…their latest number is 1563619 Ont. Ltd

I was given the 214 Chrislea Road address … and driving directions from Hamilton that a gifted 4 year old could have followed. We never had any intention of going but told Wayne what he wanted to hear … the same as he’d done to us. I figured that would be the end of it … but tonight our phone rang … called ID came up as UNKNOWN … it was the caterer, who called us to confirm our attendance tomorrow and assign us a table … it was number 4 … if anyone is interested in taking our place And yeah, I checked the BBB too … and there was nothing to be found … shame on them!

So, im not sayin I believe all the stuff I was told over the phone, but said I would go. I filled out a slip, just for the hell of it at the mall when christmas shoppin. It was to win a CAMARO. Got a call tonight, I was selected to win 1 of 4 grand prizes. BMW, Mercedes, Porsche (notice, none of which are for the car I was entering to win) OR $49,000.. Just attend this 90 minute presentation. I win trips and vacations or a cruise. Yeah right, and when would I EVER use it?! I work too much anyway. The number calling was a local (to Texas) phone number. Both people I spoke with, had a southern drawl (just like myself) probably knowing that me bein a good ol’ boy from Texas aint even going to listen to some indian dude named Steve TRY to speak the english language. So that was good. I am not in the least bit expecting to win any of the 4 GRAND prizes ( Im a hick from Texas, not a moron or a sucker) But he said, the consolation prizes are valid and the least of which is $500. Sooo… Maybe I go and waste 90 minutes of my day off, which are VERY few and far between or I don’t. I see no posts about recent activity with the vacation store, and none in Texas… Do any of ya’ll know if any of the crap I was fed over the phone is even half way valid?
There will be NO selling me on a timeshare, vacation property etc. as I will never use it.
So, in closing, help me figure out if I should have a momentary lapse in intelligence and go to see what happens or not.

Well Ehlex, I did try to block her from the game – see how easy that is. I put parental controls on her computer and blocked that website. Unfortunately, they have more than one website, so she ended going in anyway. After that she figured out how to turn off the parental controls. It was like dealing with an enemy – didn’t matter what I did so that it wouldn’t cost me money, she’d find a way to get to where she wanted to be. It ended up being a total block from computer usage, but she still had time to get on before I got home from work.

I purchased a cellphone (Keybo) cash and activated it with Telus on a monthly plan.After 2 months the plan no longer met my needs.I gave the required 30 days notice for cancellation.The cancellation was effective Dec.9,’10.
I am now attempting to upgrade my other phone,a pay and talk,with this phone.
In a call to the activation department,Telus told me on Dec.16 that the phone’s serial # was reported lost/stolen.They said that they would have it released in 2-3 business days.This call lasted 43 minutes.
I called back on the evening of Dec.21.This call lasted 24 minutes. After being told by a customer service representative,Mary, that the serial # was flagged by the fraud department I asked to speak with a supervisor.I was then transferred to Shelley at the Client Resource Management Team in Burnaby,B.C.
She repeated what Mary had just told me and insisted on “filling out a form” so the fraud team could contact me directly.She said if the serial # could be “unflagged” they are the only ones who could do it.She mentioned that it may have been been a “typo”, or something else.
So now I have to spend more of my time on the phone with some other department of this company trying prove to them that it is my phone so they can release a “flag” that they placed on it the day it was deactivated.
They have no right to flag my phone on the day of deactivation since I gave the required 30 days notice for deactivation.
This is a Telus policy to prevent consumers from taking their phone to another carrier upon cancellation of service.
