I called Rogers today because I was looking at my epost bill. On the front page it told me that my wireless account was $93 and I wondered why, so I looked at the ‘view details’ page and it showed me that it was $75 after taxes.
So I called them to say what’s going on, what is this $20 difference, even though I’d overpaid that bill when I had paid it and I was in credit for my next bill.
I talked to a woman who wasn’t quite getting it right. I had signed up for the data sharing plan with Rogers because I wanted to be able to use my mobile rocket stick (which I probably haven’t used for a year or more) and my iPad (which I seldom use) and my iPhone (which I use now and then) together without paying ridiculous amounts for products I hardly ever use.
My understanding was that all three of these products would be shared on the one account and I had no problem with the fact that it would cost me about $75 after taxes each month. So what was the almost $20 difference?
This woman I talked to had a pile of different explanations, including telling me that it was costing me an extra $16.92 a month for my mobile stick. I would try to ask her questions when it sounded silent but then she would talk again and I wasn’t getting the answer. She explained to me as well that the mobile stick was costing me an extra $10 a month, even though she’d told me that it was $16.92, and I couldn’t grasp WTF she was saying when it was all different.
I kept asking questions, she was sounding hostile. I told her that she was sounding aggressive and she told me I was too, even though I wasn’t, I was just asking questions. Then she told me I was talking over her, but the only time I was asking questions was when it sounded like she was silent – maybe she wasn’t, maybe she was in a different city and there was a time lapse taking the call, I dunno cuz I wasn’t talking while she was talking.
My bottom line question was really, why was she saying I was paying extra for the stick when I signed up for this plan where they told me that all my items would be in the same data sharing plan. Otherwise WyTF would I be signing up for it if everything wasn’t covered?
Then she told me how the stick wasn’t Apple like my iPhone and iPad and so it was separate. Again I don’t know WTF is going on because signing up for this plan, nobody told me that only Apple products could be on the same plan.
It was ridiculous, I figured I’d check with sales to see what they had to say about the data sharing plan and asked her to transfer me. She said sure (probably was happy to not be talking to me) but then it seemed like I was holding for a while so I figured she just tried to put me on hold for hours because she was pissed off.
I hung up and phoned again to the Sales department, which I wasn’t on hold to connect to and started talking to a guy who asked for my birthday and my postal code. He told me I gave him the wrong birthday so I said my birthday again. He told me it was wrong.
I asked him if they still had that January birthday on file which they told me about a few years ago and I told them it was wrong and that guy said he’d revise it. I don’t know if that came from a computer error they had, but I certainly never gave them my birthday in January.
He told me that I could go to a Rogers store and provide ID for them to change my birthday. So he couldn’t talk to me. I asked him if he was serious. Was I supposed to make a special trip to Rogers because they had somehow screwed up my account after being a Rogers customer for I don’t know how many years, 20?
He said that I had to go to the store, he wasn’t going to talk to me. I won’t even dwell on the first woman who gave me some phone number that I said ‘what’ to because it wasn’t my number and then said to me that I was talking about my father’s account.
I guess after I have the bead guy coming to show me stuff today, I will then be going over to Rogers (for fuck’s sake) and seeing that they somehow update my birthday to the right one so that I can actually find out some information about my Rogers account now.
