Stupid Deadbeat
I don’t know if it was a year ago, or just six months ago, but an acquaintance of mine (I won’t say friend) needed to borrow a jeweler’s saw. I had a brand new one that I’d bought after taking some classes, so I said I’d lend it to her. Not only did I lend it to her, but I even delivered it to her because she asked me for a drive somewhere.
I have been waiting ever since, to get my saw back. And not only have I been waiting, but I keep asking when she can bring it back, and she keeps saying stuff like, “oh, I’ll drop it off this weekend” or “I’ll bring it to the next meeting” or even, “you’ll have it this weekend for sure”.
I told her that I was scheduled for classes a few months ago and that I’d need it. I told her that I had to cancel those classes and reschedule for the next semester, to which she apologized and said she bring it back that weekend.
That new semester now starts on Sunday and she’s promised it back so many times and yet never brought it. I’ve actually had to borrow a saw now from someone else because I don’t have my saw. I asked her if she’d lost it and she said no, she had it there (and she’d bring it back).
I don’t know WTF the issue is. I don’t know why she’s still got it and I don’t know why she keeps saying she’ll bring it back and not showing, not phoning, not anything.
I finally posted something on FB to say, in effect, bring back my effing saw and she said she would the next day and again never showed.
Needless to say I’m pissed off. I know there are irresponsible people out there but this seems to take the cake for me. Especially with the promises and then standing me up. I looked to buy another saw, but obviously I’m going to have to go downtown again to get one. And the place that sells them is not open on the weekends, so just like when I bought the first one, I’ll have to take a day off to go get it unless I find something online that won’t cost me a fortune in shipping.
Unfortunately, this woman will be on the cruise I’m on in April. Frankly, I don’t even know if I can stomach the sight of her any more. For sure I don’t want anything to do with her.
Christ this makes me mad.
