Twilight
Been watching piles of movies while I’m on vacation. This one is about vampires.
As far as vampire movies go, this was not the least bit scary. It was more of a chick flick than a vampire movie.
Our hero, Bella (Kristen Stewart, don’t think I’ve ever seen her before) goes back to smalltown somewhere to live with dad cuz mom’s new boyfriend is a travelling baseball player.
Instead of getting jiggy with all the normal boys who obviously have the hots for her, Bella is much more interested in the pasty-faced boy, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) she sits beside in science class. I thought the guy was strange looking, but his looks grow on you after a while.
Even after Edward lets her know that he’s a vampire – but the good kind of vampire that kills animals instead of people – Bella still wants to be with him. Huh?
And contrary to all other books and movies you’ve seen about vampires disintegrating, burning up, exploding, dying in the sunlight, in this movie vampires get all sparkly like diamonds in the sunlight, which makes it too obvious for them to go out in daylight.
Even when some bad vampires show up and smell the ‘humanity’ of Bella and, of course, want to suck her blood, our hero, Edward, saves Bella from the bad one. Takes a lot of work, though.
I have to think back to when I was a young girl.
- Would I be immediately attracted to the pasty-faced, brooding, moody boy who tries to put me off?
- Would I still be interested in him knowing that he never slept or ate and probably had ‘fresh kill’ animal breath?
- Would I want to hang around knowing that I could be tomorrow’s dinner if he or his family had a moment out of control?
- And would I still be there after finding out I could never have sex with the guy because that’s also in the realm of losing control?
Stupid movie. The only thing that kept us watching was the way it was filmed. It was almost as if it was a friend’s home movie. Seemed very real in that respect.

Weird, odd movie, but I did like the little town, such a nice feel about the place all damp and dark.
Oh and why did she still want to go with a guy who was alive in 1918?
Spookie this whole watching the same vid thingee.
