FloorPlanner.com

After Minna wrote about how she had re-arranged her room the other day, I thought that I’d try that link for floorplanner.com.

It’s free for personal use. I guess you can try to design your entire household and see how things will fit – helluva lot easier than moving the furniture around (or getting your snookey to do it).

It was kinda fun. Here’s how my computer room looks.

Maybe I should say, here’s how my computer room would look if there was absolutely nothing on top of the desks or sitting on top of that chair on the left, or packed up in front of that closet over there on the bottom left.

I didn’t see an option to add two monitors there, and while I’m now keeping my laptop on my desk over to the right, my snookey does not have a laptop. I also didn’t see shelves anywhere. Because I have the shelves on my desk behind my monitors, shelves on my jewellery table that’s shown in between our desks, and I didn’t see any icons for printers, digital camera docks, phones, webcams, speakers and all the other crap that you’d really find on top of my desk.

So although you couldn’t get a realistic view of what my computer room actually looks like, it did seem like a good space planning tool. I’d recommend it if you are looking to rearrange things. I didn’t put in exact measurements – only for the size of the room, approximately. The rest I just put in based on how the room feels to me right now. And those little rectangles you see there are stacks and stacks of my tackle boxes with the two levels of beads in each. And when I say, “stacks and stacks”, believe it. The tax man told me I spent $14,000 on beads last year.

And, BTW, the rug in the picture is way, way nicer than mine.
