Back to Work

Tuesday was my last vacation day for this period, and so yesterday I went back to work. I wasn’t looking forward to it, I was kinda depressed that my vacation seemed to be over already, but I got all gussied up and went.

I got in, did my reports that I do first thing every morning, had my coffee and decided to go pee (thank you for sharing).

When I went into the washroom, the cleaning woman was in there. We exchanged hi’s and I went to the stall.

At our work we have that toilet paper that looks like little Kleenex rectangles, not regular toilet paper. As I was pulling some out, one dropped on the floor.

Knowing that the cleaning woman had just cleaned, I didn’t want to leave toilet paper laying on the floor, so I bent over to pick it up.

Well, after that, I could hardly bend back up. I guess I bent strangely, because I threw my back out.

I got up, hobbled to my desk and sat there in pain. I called my snookey, I thought he might be able to deliver my anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxant drugs to me but, alas, he was in his car on his way downtown.

So I left work. I did think of going to the store and picking up some Robaxacet, but then I didn’t know what effect they’d have on me and was worried about driving home if I was ‘stoned’.

I went home, but not before stopping at Shoppers’ Drug Mart where I bought Robaxacet and Ibuprofen with a liquid centre (sounded yummy).

I took those drugs all day along with my anti-inflammatory drugs. But I worked from home, sitting stiffly in my chair and by the time evening rolled around, my back was probably worse. The only thing that seemed to help it was lounging on the couch watching TV at the time.

Today I’m working from home again, and as soon as I got up from my ergo desk chair, I had to grab the wall to give me some movement. I should be on sick time – not working from home, and laying on my back with my legs elevated (stop that, you pig).

I may be here again tomorrow. Most likely. Now I need some drugs.

:( Hope your back will feel better soon.

Thanks, Richard, I hope so too. This is a pain in the ass (or back).
