The Wrestler
I wasn’t looking forward to this movie. I put it on my ziplist because it was current, but I haven’t liked Mickey Rourke too much for years, mostly because of all his “B” movies, and I wasn’t looking forward to watching him all botox-ed up.
With that said, the movie was great. It was very real, Mickey didn’t seem to be acting and was believable as the ‘once big-time’ wrestler who’s still going at despite his age, because it’s all he knows.
Our hero thinks that Marissa Tomei (who plays the stripper) actually feels more for him than just providing good customer service, and he attempts to hook up with her.
I think you might like this one even though it depicts a seedy, underside of life. And that Marissa Tomei gets quite a few nude shots in this. She’s got a very nice body for a 45-year-old. I think it was nicer than mine at 30 *not jealous*.
We were surprised that it didn’t win more awards than it did, but then it was against Slumdog Millionaire. We watched that again too, for comparative purposes, and enjoyed it more than we did the first time.
