Sam’s Club

samsclubclosingI was a member of Sam’s Club… that is until they closed their doors on March 1st. And I hadn’t been a member for long, maybe a few months, so I was a little perturbed that they were closing their doors.

However, I did get a letter saying that this week they were having a liquidation sale for all their business members. I got the letter yesterday – that didn’t leave me a lot of shopping time. The store will be open to the public next week to clear out their stuff.

So today on my lunch half hour which I made into an hour, I, and a bunch of people in my department, hiked over for these liquidation deals. I didn’t see anything really spectacular, however, I did see a 32″ TV for $597 which I thought wasn’t too bad a price. And I’ve been looking at replacing the big, bulky TV in the bedroom a bunch of times, so I figured this was a good enough price to go ahead with it.

In other TV news, I took my computer in to Yow today to see WyTF the blu ray movies weren’t playing and it turns out that if I want to play a blu ray movie on my computer, I’ll have to unhook the regular monitor and just have the TV monitor hooked up (who knows why?).

Either that or I’ll have to buy another TV monitor, which I may just do so they’ll be the same size. But then the problem will be checking websites in a regular configuration. Right now I can see how sites look on a normal screen and a widescreen so if there are any issues I can address them. Big deal, I suppose I could always change the resolutions.

Anyway, all is working as it should be I guess. The sound on the new bedroom TV is much nicer than our old TV. What am I going to do with the old TV? Dunno. Put it in my ‘spare’ room maybe? My daughter’s bedroom will be the spare bedroom as of next Thursday.

What shall I do with that room? I was thinking of perhaps making a jewellery room out of it but then when would I have people in my home to buy jewellery? I’d have to have a shitload of jewellery parties or something.

I could make it a workout room; have a bigger TV in there with a DVD player, maybe some kind of stereo system to work out to music. That would mean that I’d have room for a treadmill now.

So much to think about. I will have two spare computers now – the one from my daughter’s room and my old one. Maybe I should have a give away. No wait, my son said he needed another computer. He threw out the last one I gave him, you know, stuff slopped on it, dirt, dust, whatever. Glad he took care of that gift.

I’m off to eat some wings. We’re supposed to start our South Beach diet on Monday and we will provided that we can get rid of all the bad stuff we’ve got here already; otherwise we’ll have to wait a week.

BFG, my first reaction was just to boot her out the door with all this shit. I think I have ended up being nice.

    jafers last blog post..Sam’s Club

  2. BFG says:

    Yep.

Hey what exactly are “wings”, I mean we have chicken wings..part of the bird that is not allowed to fly wings, but I guess that’s not what you are mentioning?

Oh and by the way I say some Timms coffee for sale in a supermarket the other day, I think you said that was your fav .

  3. BFG says:

That was “saw” not “say”, sheesh its late and I’ve been downtown looking at the boat show, millions of dollars worth of boats per berth. I don’t see the recession is as bad as people make out, at least down here anyway. The “Aurora” was in berth too 2000 odd people wandering around spending cash.

  4. jafer says:

Yes, BFG, I’m talking about chicken wings when I say wings. Everyone here just calls them wings. Which reminds me of Americans saying ‘tuna fish’ when here we just call it tuna. Did you happen to pick up a boat or two while you were at the show? :)

  5. BFG says:

    Ha Ha you so funny.

I throw up at the sight of waves, actually being on a boat in our seas, NO!

Yeah its just Tuna down here, and John Dory is just Dory. Don’t know if you get that fish, is great in a pie.

  6. jafer says:

We never even heard of John Dory, but Gordon Ramsay cooks it all the time so we had to look it up and then found out it was fish. Since I’m not big on fish, we’re not going to see if it’s sold in Canada.
