Not a Dime
Well, boys and girls, I am officially broke again. Today I went downtown to a special jeweller’s supply store. I had to buy a drill. And you can’t just get this drill at Canadian Tire, oh no. Those drills (you can get one for $14) are way too big.
So I headed off to get my drill in the heart of downtown Toronto. I bought a Foredom drill – supposed to be the best pick for working, power, and lasting long. That was $279, but at least it came with some accessories. I also had to pick up the drill press that works with the Foredom handpiece. That was another $169.
I couldn’t stop there, I was in the supply store. I picked up a saw, some saw blades, a vise, a grip, a mandrel, and some drill bits, of course. What good would my new drill be without some drill bits, I ask you.
Altogether it was about $500. And that was the last $500 I had left on my Visa. I guess someone’s got a helluva lot of paying off to do.
Anyway, I started to set up our spare room (my daughter’s old room) into my work room. Not for beading but for sawing and drilling and clay molding.
So I threw out the dresser that was in there. I don’t even have room in the garage to keep it. I was gonna throw out the bed too but I have to wait a week until my son moves out into his new place. Turns out my son said he’ll take the bed for when my grandson sleeps over at his place.
So within a week I’ll have the room partially set up to do my ‘work’. However, at the moment I can’t afford another table to put in there so I’ll have to make do with a sparse work room.
Christ, I have bills to pay. And some whopping credit card bills to pay. I’d better get my act together. Now I can’t even afford my next class. Oops.
