My ziplist has the movie described this way:
The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan
Winner of both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, God Grew Tired of Us explores the indomitable spirit of three “Lost Boys” from the Sudan who leave their homeland, triumph over seemingly insurmountable adversities and move to America, where they build active and fulfilling new lives but remain deeply committed to helping the friends and family they have left behind.
That sounds accurate, so I’m using it.
When I started watching the movie, I almost turned it off, it had too much of that documentary feel to it and I thought it would be boring.
Then they came to a part where they were moving the “lost boys” to America and that actually sounded interesting – think of Crocodile Dundee.
It was interesting and so I didn’t turn off the movie, although I guess documentaries are not really my ‘type’ of movie. There were some fun parts though. I will remember where their guide is showing them all the food in their new apartment and shows them a bottle of Pepsi. The Africans state that they have the same thing in Africa, only there, they call it Coke.
If you’re patient, you might enjoy this movie.
