LG KEYBO
Ever since I saw this phone, I wanted one. The problem? My daughter wanted one too and she does a helluva lot more texting than I do, so of course I had to buy one for each of us.
I went from Telus store to Telus store because they had the KEYBO’s on special for $199 instead of the usual $299 for Pay and Talk customers (which I am).
This is what the phone looks like when you flip it open – with a special little qwerty keyboard. In this picture, because of the flash, the phone looks silver, but it’s not. It’s pure black everywhere. Funny what the flash will do… I kinda like it in silver.
Anyway, I’ll write later (probably tomorrow) about my experience with Telus in my attempt to get a good deal on these two $299 phones.
UPDATE: I’ve bought an iPhone and I’m now selling my LG Keybo for $50, including car charger and case. If anyone in the Toronto area is interested, you can email me here – use the contact form. My KEYBO is sold.

I gotmy keybo like 3 days ago and its the best phone I’ve ever owned , the plus the speakers are a added bonus because of how loud they can go its actually surprised me
Yes, I love my keybo, Chris. I think it’s the best phone that I’ve had too. There’s only one thing it won’t do that I wish it would and that’s where you can make your own recordings and use them as ringtones. I know the LG Rumour will do that.
im getting that phone tomorrow for the 199 deal for talk and text . thats like pay as you go right ? my best friend has one and i love it 
OMG ive had this phone for about a month now! Its really good, its prob my fav phone ever! texting is sooo easy and like stated above the built in speakers work so well and are so loud. i love it so much!

Got this phone about 3 weeks ago. Dumped my smart phone for this and am so happy I did. I have always had good luck with LG and this seems like a great phone for everything I need it for.

i just bought the phone yesterday .. AND i DONT get it until x-mas .. haha !! but people say the phone suckss .. and people say its good .. cann you put the phone onn speakerr ? ahah and cann you upload pictures to your computer from your phone

I have no idea whether there are smilies for texting, I usually try to make my texts as short as possible with abbreviations so I’m not typing that much.

My father and I went to Telus and saw this phone for $299 without a contract and all that junk and desided it wasn’t worth it.
We then went to Future shop and saw the EXACT same phone for pay and talk for only $139 and it wasn’t even on sale!!
JUST GOT ONE FOR CHRISTMAS THE BEST F***** PHONE IN THE WORLD EASY TO USE AMZING SPEAKERS AND INTERNET IS FAST AS HELL LOVE IT!!!

umm i got my phone in like december,,, an early birthday present,.. i liked it lots when my friends first got it.. but like it’s not as greaat as i wanted it to be

I’ve had this phone for about 5 months and I love it.
Sheri .. you can upload pictures from the phone onto your computer. It should have came with a tiny little memory card that goes in your phone and with that theres another one that is about the size of a camera memory card, you just simply slide the tiny phone memory card into the bigger one and stick it in your computer : )
if it didn’t come with one, you cand just go to walmart and buy one.
I want to know if you can use recordings for ringtones .
I’ve had this phone for 5 months now and I love it! I’m still checking http://www.bitpim.org every other week to see when their latest version will be released and if they’ll FINALLY add support for the LG Kebo. They have support for the Keybo env2. So all you people that are going to buy the Keybo, buy the env2 version (not sure if “env2″ is an exclusive version to a carrier), but at least you’ll be able to use the FREE BitPim program to add your own ringtones & wallpaper. One pet peeve that I do have is when I receive text from a friend that has a Keybo and they use abbreviations, it’s like “Come on! You have a Kebo now where each letter has it’s own key! Spell correctly PLEASE!” Where the whole point of using abbreviations is when using the old cellz where you had to push a button like 3 or 4 times to get to the letter that you want to use. I hated texting before I got my Keybo. Now that I have one, I LOVE IT!
i am getting this phone in exactly one week i am so freaking excited i am getting pay as you go for 179.99 it seems kind of high but i dont care i luv it and cant wait to get it. How is telus anyway? Good i hope.
@Devin – I haven’t had too many problems with Telus. Out of all the providers, I suppose they’re one of the better ones.

I want an LG Keybo badly, but I’m not sure. A lot of people say it’s horrible, and has some bugs and stuff, such as it getting white screens or erasing its memory.
Other people, like on here, say it’s an excellent phone and you can get it cheaper at Wal-Mart, and stuff. I’m just not sure if it’s a good phone or not.
Is it pay-as-you-go? Cause I don’t want any contracts; and I would like unlimited texting, if its possible. Hmm…
I have a current phone, right now, from Telus, that I got in May 2008. I’ve had it for about 8-9 months. I don’t like it. The phone came free with a two-year plan, which sucks. And to end the contract, there’s that stupid early termination fee. I get charged $40 a month for it, and I don’t even use it that much. It came with a battery glitch, it’s useless basically, and it sucks a lot. No offense to anyone with the phone.
I hate it, and it’s a big blocky workphone. I’m a fifteen-year-old teenager? I don’t need that; I need something like pay-as-you-go with lots of text. I don’t like talking on the phone, but I like texting, music and surfing the web.
So – if this is a good phone, do you recommend it?
I think it’s a great phone, I’d recommend it to anyone. I haven’t had any problems with a white screen or memory erasing, or any other types of problems either. It is pay as you go, I don’t want any contracts either, and you can get unlimited texting for about $15.00/month – I just get the $5 for 250 outgoing messages and free incoming.
If you can find a good price – like people have said about Wal-Mart, I’d say go for it.

Well i had this phone for about 3 months now.
My first one broke because the screen just shut off on its own. So i went to go and get another one.
Stay on warranty !

well love it now cuz ive had mine for 8 moths and it really old. i dont use it alot anymore but its good 4 txtin. pictures arnt that great and the voyager is better cost twice as much but 4 times better
I might be getting this phone in July. Right now I am weighing my options. This is the top phone on my list. I would be buying it from Telus and putting it on a Solo or Virgin Mobile plan.
Has anyone had any experience with this phone for a while? Are there any glitches or bugs? Also, how does they keyboard work after a while? Is it still as good?

I’ve been using it for a while now and I’ve had no problems with it. Keyboard is still fine and so are all the other features.
I love the phone have had it since Jan and have had no problems with it. I am on the unlimited $45.00 plan with Telus free inomeing free out going calls after 6pm and free text … also added $7.00 data plan…… I get ring tones free from the iCoke plan if anyone is intersted.

Oh my god I got this phone a month and 7 days ago and I am in love with it I can’t even imagine what I did without it before I got it. I got it on koodo which is a really good company I def. recommend it.

My friend just got the Kebo yesterday, and I’m pretty much having an affiar with it. I’m with bell, and I have a Samsung Instinct…and all I can say is NEVER GET A TOUCH PHONE! You lose interest in about…ohhh 2 weeks give or take. And you also get charged for exploring for different features on the phone. It SUCKS! The Kebo is AMAZING:) I used to have a Samsung a900, and I used to be CRAZY fast at texting, now that I have the touch keyboard, I can’t text with one hand anymore Sooo…I’m leaving my 500 dollar phone (which I paid 305 for it) and getting the Kebo

okay , i know all of you people are like… pro keybo.
but ive had this phone for 3 and a half months, its literally only been dropped once.
the phone, like the hardware is crap.
this happened to me and THREE ! of my friends with this phone, its bound to happen to you guys too.
the phone, just randomly out of nowhere, messes up, and then its done.
my phone, the screen( outside) went white. and the one on the inside went black and works, sometimes..like 1 out of 10 tries, and when it does, its discolored.
like, i was just sitting, hanging out havinng a few j’s with some buds and i grabbed my phone off of the table opened it up, started typing a message to my friend and it froze.
so i restarted my phone, and now its….the way it is.
it really sucks cause this is an extremely amzing phone, like i want to buy the same phone again, but im so scared of it breaking again.
but i love it soo much

I to have heard many bad things about this phone but I really really want it.I’ve heard that the front keys break,the front screen goes white,freezes and it turns off for no reason.I don’t want to put it on telus because they have ripped me off before and I don’t want that to happen again so I’d probably go with koodo unlimited texting.I was wondering if this has happened to anyone the problems with the phone
You can easily add any mp3 as a ringtone using Bitpim. I have Journey – Separate Ways (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxxOyGK1pMk) as my ringtone, the whole song. It’s good in theory except I keep finding myself listening to the song instead of picking up the phone.
Next week on wednesday I think I am getting a KeyBo. I’m going through Koodo because I have had problems with Telus in the past so I think Koodo is the best way to go for me. I’m so happy I’m getting a phone because I haven’t had one since September (that’s when my phone broke) and with school and everything it’s hard to not have a cellphone but it’s also hard to pay for one. On koodo they’re great because the plan I picked is only going to cost $37.00 a month which it like amazing compared to my old Telus bills. The only problem is I’m scared that the phone will break because I have heard of people having so many bad experiences with the KeyBo. So I was wondering if anyone has ever had a Samsung Slyde or LG KeyBo and which one is better quality-wise?
I might trade my krzr in for a keybo with koodo. koodo is owned by telus just it’s more afordable and custormer friendly
I want to get the lg keybo from koodo for like only 50$ but My friend that phone, my friend doesn’t want me to have the same phone as her, else we won’t be friends anymore. Some friend eh. And I can’t find any phone like it!
This phone is the immortal demonchild of satan. There is no way I would ever purchase such a piece of rubbish for any member of my family without first submerging the phone in a bucket of holy water. When I was texting my chimp, Chester, my hand caught on fire.
i got my keybo less than like 2 months ago and it is already crapping out…7 of the buttons on the front no longer work and the screen just quit working today, it is just white. how the heck do i fix this!! ugh!!! ..other than that i was very pleased with the phone at first but now i think i will just have to switch!
Take it back, Kanise, and get a replacement. It’s almost a year since I’ve had mine and I’ve never had a problem of any kind with it.

People keep complaining that it messes up, but then they giggle and admit to having dropped it once or twice, or a lot. Well, it seems to be a small phone, so it’ll probably take the damage twice as hard. It’s like if you fell off the couch, you’re going to be okay. If a baby falls off the couch, it’s not. The LG KeyBo is the baby.
I still have yet to get this phone, but it bothers me when people insult it, even though they’ve dropped it a million times. If it craps out on it’s own, just get it replaced.
i’be have this phone since it first came out last year.. it is a got phone but a month after i had it, it started 2 freeze… that was way b4 i’ve dropped… i say i’ve dropped it bout 6 timez….and it styll workz.. so do recommened this phone its great if u love textin….

I have a Voyager it’s so much better than Keybo It has a touch screen outside AND interior screen AND full keyboard is so much better. YAY happy i gawt it yesterday!
i had my lg keybo for a year on cristmas and i just bought a 25 dollar phone card for unlimited texting ($15) and it said it was successfully downloaded and i started texting and b4 i knew it i didnt work and i had no god damn minutes ! 
I just got this phone less than a month ago and already i have had to replace it once beacuse of a broken mp3 on it.
luckly i have a warenty beacsue i know now that i will have to keep getting it replaced. Yet again the mp3 on my phone is not working , it will restrt as soon as i go to mp3 or start a song over. This phone is really good for texting, and or calling, but if your going to get this phone get a warenty becasue it will cause problems. Even if you dont drop it. Mines not even scratched or anything but already it is not working.
Well, I bought this phone about 2 weeks ago, and recently went out and bought an SD Card (2GB) Stored music and photos on there. I have to say, I am very impressed, and for the people who have had this problem of it turning off, or restarting; it’s bogus. Mine hasn’t done that at all, my only issue is, when I record videos, I don’t always get sound on it. But when I send the video to my e-mail, they all have sound. If anyone know’s how I could fix this, or if I am un-aware of a setting that I am changing by accident, please email me @ JamesTait@gmx.com thanks
One of the best phones I have ever purchased.
this phone is the cutest.. i have never dropped it.. yet the send button and 7 8 and 9 dont work.. i went to telus to get it fixed and they want almost 100 dollars in order to fix it.. this is still under warranty. i love this phone.. but this is not the only person i know with issues.. seriously think about this phone before getting it. there is the lg keybo 2, hopefully this is the upgrade and will have no issues..
i want that phone cause it it the same as env2 but i dont have verizon so im gonna get that in ten days

your phone should have come with a cable especially meant for this. it will fit into the same port where your charger fits. connect this to your computer and the phone will ask you if you want to connect to your computer. press ok, and a window should pop up asking you what you want to do next .
now to my business for writing: ive had this phone for a few months now, and its great and i love it, but the issues are not far and few between! firstly, my ok button stopped working, as did the 7,8,9 row keys, and then my talk button for awhile! they worked only when they felt like it. secondly, my phone screen recently began to mess up and go upsidedown and stripey and now, the internal screen is completely black, and the external screen is completely white and i can do nothing on my phone as i can see nothing! it still works, because i attempted a blind text message and my friend recieved it, (with no spelling errors i might add ), but now its completely useless. im now just going to transfer my pictures to save them, and run to telus and complain. hopefully i get a much more satisfactory phone in the future…all the best luck with your phones! get the warranty if you buy this one!
I’m getting this phone on Saturday with Koodo. I’ve read all the reviews… idk. It seems like a good phone, although people are saying that it’s pretty sucky. I think it might be worth the risk.

it is soooo easy to type with, and was very easy to figure out.
I’m on telus in Canada, and hit mine at bestbuy for $80 on prepaid (or pay ad you go)

dude, the phone is alright. not the best but not the worst. the front buttons go easily, especially if you drop it (even once). i had to get a new one after 3 months of using it, and now this phone’s front buttons wont work properly either. they still work, but i have to sit there and play with the buttons until i see it works. wich isnt often.
I’ve never (ever) had a problem with the phone. I didn’t drop it anywhere (ever) either but everything has always worked well – I can easily endorse it.
i had my phone for a year now and just loving it.would not trade it for another phone!i dropped mine a few times by getting in and out of the truck and it still works great.
k so, i have a question. i just got a LG KEYBO 2 today. I LOVE IT, i have unlimited texting.. but now.. noone is reciving my texts. ( IM ON UNLIMITED TEXTING ) i love the phone.. but i need to know why people cant recieve my texts.

Jessica your unlimited text don’t work with a $0.00 balance if your on pay n talk with telus. My Keybo 2 likes to download the EULA for the mp3 player everytime I go to listen to something and it kept charging me for net usage so telus added me the unlimited web package and now it dont waste my balance

Anna, it doesn’t blank out all the time – it didn’t blank out ever for me, but then I don’t throw it around, drop it, get it wet, etc. This phone was great and I’d still be using it if I hadn’t craved an iPhone.
Okay, here’s the thing,
I got this phone for christmas this year and had never dropped it. It was my baby. No one could touch it and stuff like that. I was walking home from school and it dropped out of my pocket. The inside screen is all cracked and messed up. But when it dropped it was closed. It’s really messed up and i can’t see anything. Before i dropped it, it would always freeze. It still does and three of my front buttons don’t work. The outside buttons go really fast. Then I dropped it in the bath tub and now it is even more messed then it was before. This phone is decent if you don’t touch it, and you never use it. I text all the time and now most of my buttons are dead. I really want the keybo 2 but i’m just wondering if i will have the same problems.
i have the original model of the lg keybo. i drop it almost every day and text like crazy and it’s still the phone i got a year and a half ago. the only problems i’ve had are the web browser doesn’t work, nor photo messages. has anyone else had these problems?
My son got his Keybo II first. He loved it, however, after about two months it started randomly turning itself off (while he was texting, in the middle of a phone call). It eventually got to the point we would try and have conversation but the phone would turn off 3-4 times in a row. He took the phone back to where we bought it; the business gave him a replacement and said they would have phone looked at. When he got phone back, the business advised that it was a software update problem and that they updated the software. The phone worked good for about 3 days and started doing the same thing. Needless to say, my son is back with a replacement and phone is once again in being looked at.
Myself, bought the Keybo II (unfortunately my son wasnt having any problems with his phone yet when I bought mine). I have lucked out though. Have had my phone since August. It havent had any problems, so far, however after reading different sites and general comments of Keybo II owners, I would not buy this phone again!

I dont know if this fone is that great, i got it 4 xmas, but in february i left it on my bed 4 the day and the outer screen went blank and white. over the next few weeks black lines made their way across the screen and we brought it 2 futureshop and apparantley there r hairline fractures inside the fone. they also said that comapnies usually dont cover that in their warrenty…

I bought my LG Keybo in January 2009, and it is just now starting to crap out on me. I have all the same problems everyone else is having. Some of the outer buttons stopped working about a year after I got it, but I didn’t think it was a huge deal because you can just use the inner buttons. But now I am getting the white outer screen, and black internal screen. I have never dropped my phone or treated it poorly… I even bought a protective case for it. It is a really great phone, while it works. But be ready to buy a new phone sooner than you expect.
Hi, Well im thinking of getting this phone. And ive been starting to change my mind about cuz all of the crappy reviews. Since its been so long since it came out, have those bugs been fixed? ANOTHER question, plz tell me if you can download ringtones on the internet onto the phone. And can you change the screen? Ive heard the screen gets boring. If you cant then aw well. I’ll live!
Yes you can download ringtones and you can change the screen and screensaver. The phone is not so old that it doesn’t at least have that basic capability. It’s not some cheap shit phone that you get when you sign up for somebody’s 3-year contract with the free phone.
I’ve had my keybo for well over a year. I’ve dropped it several times, gotten it wet, & treated it as a piece of cheap equipment in general. It still works perfectly. I have no complaints about this phone, except that my kids like to use it more than their own. Mine is pay as you go on Telus, & I have no real complaints about them either. I’ve been looking at new phones, but haven’t found one that’s worth the price to give this one up. I’m pretty sure it’s called the env2 in the USA(I’m in Canada) I’ve uploaded ringtones/games for the env2 & they work. The only thing I haven’t been able to find is a software update.
I have a Keybo since many months and have no problems with the screens, but with the mp3 music player: it doesn’t play the music at the right pace! Everything is slower and lower, which is realy annoying, so forget the mp3-player function of this cell phone!!
Plus: the limit storage of entering sms is at only 50!!! So if you don’t want to activate the function of automatic deleting (if you like to keep funny or “precious” sms…)you are constantly confronted with a stupid message telling you the box is full each time you want to see a sms!!!
