Sleuth
I don’t know if this is a remake, ok, I just looked it up and it is a remake of the 1972 version of Sleuth (which I never saw).
In the original version, Laurence Olivier played Andrew Wyke (the old man) and Michael Caine played the lover (Milo Tindle).
In this version, Michael Caine is Andrew Wyke, an old, rich man whose wife is cheating on him with Jude Law (Milo Tindle).
The story is about the games these two play on each other when the lover decides to visit Michael to ask that he divorce his cheating wife.
It’s a two-man movie. It may have cost $10 to make. It was excellent. It was suspenseful with twists all around, and both characters were totally believable.
I may just rent the original to see what that was like. I like Michael Caine. I like Jude Law more from this movie than from others I’ve seen him in. This is the best movie I’ve seen in a while, and it’s funny how they could make it without all those $40 million special effects and still have a good film.
Rent it. Or rent the original first and compare. Oh, that would probably be too tedious. I’m going to look for it.
