Scary Driving

More and more lately, I find myself feeling a little nervous when my snookey is driving.

When I first knew him, I was calm, collected, I thought he was a pretty safe driver.

But lately, I notice all kinds of things. I notice him driving partially into another lane. He sometimes stops at green lights, and, worse, he sometimes doesn’t stop at stop signs.

When he pulls into a parking spot beside another car he seems to make sure his car looks like it’s going to hit the other car – that’s how close he is turning in. So far he’s been lucky, but I have to wonder why he’s getting that close – especially when there’s lots of room.

He’s never been one to check his blind spots, but lately, since I’ve mentioned it a few times, he’s started doing it now and then. And it’s a damned good thing because tonight, had he not checked his blind spot, he would have pulled into the left turn lane where another car was driving.

I don’t know if this is an aging thing or whether he’s distracted, but I’m sure as hell feeling awfully nervous with his driving lately. While he’s just as quick as I am to say, “nice turn signal”, for those drivers who don’t use one, I notice that he’s not always using one either.

I think I prefer those weeks that I do the driving to work. I know for sure that I’m going to brake before I’m inside the guy ahead’s trunk.
