Loaner
Did I mention that I’d applied for a loan at the bank? I did. I had a loan with Wells Fargo that I got in May 2005. I called last week to find out what the payout amount would be and they told me $8046.74. After two years of paying $400 a month on a $10,000 loan, they had only taken almost $2000 off the principle.
So I contacted my bank, the good one that’s open late, and applied for an $18,000 loan. With that I could pay off the loan, pay off three of my credit cards and only be paying about $100 more per month. Today I got approved, tomorrow they said it would be done. Make it so.
They took my two Mastercards but left me with ‘their’ Visa card. That’s a good thing I guess so I don’t have the opportunity to run up any more debt and I’ll still have my Visa in case I need to buy something online.
I’m really happy about this (except for the monthly payment part), it makes me feel a little relieved. I was expecting to be turned down, cuz, after all, when does anything seem to go my way?
So I just finished paying the hydro bill, and the phone bill, and the Sears bill. I’ll just be happy if I can make it til payday next week without going into my overdraft. Then I’ll get to save up $500 for my first loan payment (which will be taken directly out of my account).
Life is good. I won’t talk about work today so I can still believe that life is good. Now I’m going out into an air conditioned living room and watch Earl and The Office reruns. Then I’ll watch (what I think is) the final episode of Debbie Travis’ From the Ground Up.
Then I’ll go to bed. Then I’ve got a whole long weekend to sleep in. Thank you, thank you. Life is good after all, isn’t it?

Isn’t it great? We moved our mortgage to a new bank in 2004 – and mortgaged enough to pay off hubby’s student loan, all of our credit cards and some other debt – it ended up being $1000/month less in monthly payments for us. That month I got prego with Sierra, so we found a new way to spend that $1000 – DAYCARE!!!! We paid off more debt when we moved last month (credit cards that we had racked back up etc…). We’ll get a chance to spend that $ we’re saving again next summer when I go back to work on you guessed it – more DAYCARE!!! I wonder if we’ll have another kid once Sierra starts school?
