The Devil Wears Prada

Out of school journalist looking for a job lands one as an assistant to the Editor in Chief of ‘the’ fashion magazine. She’s good looking but out of style and once she ends up in style she becomes a workaholic, ignoring her poor boyfriend… the important things in life, however, it all works out in the end. End of story.

This movie was like a cross between 9 to 5, Working Girl, and, I presume, was the basis of the Ugly Betty TV show. Very, very predictable, but there was nothing for us to rent that we hadn’t seen, and even though this one had been out for a while, we hadn’t bothered with it.

I guess this was an almost typical chick flick, where the bad guy doesn’t get her come-uppance, but the protagonist ends up ‘doing the right thing’, which, as in all chick flicks, is always following her heart (and not the money).

I liked it, especially the thing about the colour green and the brown belt.

I didn’t dislike it but I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about with the belt. Either I’ve forgotten or I missed it.

It was when the “Editor” explained to the “new” girl about how her off the shelf top was a copy of the previous seasons colors selected by her, after she said “what does it matter which belt they are the same”.

Or some thing like that.

:) Sheesh I’ve got to get out more ;)

Good explanation BFG, now I remember what part you’re talking about, and I thought she did a great job of explaining just how the fashion industry impacted her.
