North Country

Yes, we’re movie fools this weekend. Tonight we’ve rented another movie, Zodiac, that we’ll watch in a little while.

Last night we rented North Country, a fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual harassment case in the United States — Jenson vs. Eveleth Mines, where a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner filed and won the landmark 1984 lawsuit.

It wasn’t a bad movie. Charlize Theron is quite a beautiful woman (yes, I saw her in that film where she was ugly and fat, I forget the name of it). I found her acting quite believable, but so was the acting of the men who played idiots.

You can tell when a man never got enough education. It’s easy to recognize when a man never learned more than his grade school antics which he carried over into high school, and was never able to let go of. Those are the really stupid men who treat women like dirt. It disgusts me to see it and I always pray that the other, seemingly good, men are not just ‘acting’ good towards women but deep down have the same ignorant mindset as those who are obvious about it. This movie is rife with characters like that.

I know it’s not a new movie, but I’d never seen it and there was nothing left that I hadn’t seen, so I’d recommend it if there’s nothing else you want to see.
