Bridge to Terabithia

This was a Disney film, need I say more? No psycho killer flicks out there that we hadn’t seen, so… my daughter had read the book and wanted to see the movie.

It was a good movie, regardless of the fact that I think it was a kid’s movie. With that said, however, it did have me reminiscing about ‘way back when’, when I was about the kids’ ages in the movie.

I suppose what helped that along was that the private space (Terabithia) that the boy and girl in this movie had reminded me of me about 7-10 years old, growing up on a street with a big ravine at the end of it, and exploring the ravine with and without friends, even getting lost in that ravine. So it wasn’t too big a stretch for me to get into the characters’ headspace of a private getaway (avec tree house, I wish I’d had one of those).

I was doing my girly crying thing at a couple of parts. I don’t know whether that’s the reason I say the movie was good. Perhaps I think that if it moved me to tears, it was good. Nah, that can’t be, since I’ve told you before that there were some TV commercials that had me all weepy.

The movie was good, bottom line. It held my interest and it wasn’t overly long. As a matter of fact I couldn’t even tell you how long the movie was cuz it just whizzed by.

Go ahead and rent it if you feel like taking a night off from a psycho killer, qu’est-ce que c’est, flick. We’re all bilingual over here.

A movie that actually held your interest? I didn’t think they made movies like that anymore. Well if I get time, I’ll probably check it out.
