Freedom Writers
For some reason I’m getting a lot of spam lately – probably one of the stupid things I signed up for caused that.
I forgot to tell you about the movie the other night, remember? Freedom Writers. Remember I thought it would be dippy and meaningful (emphasis on dippy)?
Well, I was wrong. It was a very good movie. It had me in tears a couple of times and my daughter was crying every other scene.
I’m thinking that Hilary Swank will be getting another award for this one. I liked the way she played the white, unhip teacher in the ghetto. Not too over-the-top in her uncoolness. I guess I’d have to consider this girl a good actress (no, I’m not going with the politically correct, “actor”, she’s a woman, damn it, I can call her an actress).
While it was not my favourite genre (you know, psycho killer movie), it was an enjoyable film. Go rent it.

Cool that you enjoyed the movie, but I can tell you that the book is a zillion times better.
Erin Gruwell is a very cool lady; she’s dating a good friend of mine, so I’ve been hearing about this movie for a long time now.
Unfortunately, Hilary is not likely to get any accolades for this film. I don’t think folks took this movie very seriously.
