Books
I started reading a book, I dunno, months ago… a year ago? I can’t remember when. I got about half way through the book and never read anything more. I was busy, doing stuff, other things to do, don’t take the TTC any more. So I never got around to finishing the book, and I was supposed to write a review about it cuz I got the book for free (provided that I write the review).
Now I feel guilty. I have no idea what that book is about and, quite frankly, I have to start reading it from the beginning now because of my absolute lack of memory on the storyline. When would I have time to read? My lunch hours are spent joining ‘the girls’ at the office or going out for a quick shop.
And, I don’t really feel like reading lately.
So I saw the post at BFG’s that tags everyone who reads it and decided that I could do that one because it just asks for the book closest to you.
The rules are:
-Grab the book closest to you
-Open to page 123
-Scroll down to the 5th sentence
-Post the text of next 3 sentences on your blog
-Name of the book and the author
-Tag 3 people
The way in which you accept an assignment presents similar opportunities and potential hazards. If you happen to be thrilled with the assignment, your communication task is simple: just go ahead and express your feelings. It will give your boss pleasure to know that he has assigned you something you are excited about doing. It will also give him the feeling that he has chosen the right person for the job. But what if you have reservations about the assignment? Before you react, you must make an important decision.
Hmm, a cliffhanger. The book is, “How to Say It at Work”, written by Jack Griffin (you know, the author of “How to Say It Best”). And just to satisfy your curiosity, he gives you a whole bunch of wording on how to accept that assignment (that you don’t want) in a way that sounds positive, and a little more verbosely than my usual “alrighty”. I suppose I should finish reading that book too.
And I’m not tagging anybody. Like BFG, if you read this and want to participate, go for it.
