Last Baseball Game

Last night was our last game of the season. If we had won, on Saturday we’d be playing in the play-offs at noon. However, we lost, so we play the consolation round on Saturday morning at 10:30. And apparently there’s some event going on at the same time as our game, so there’ll be absolutely no parking around on Saturday at Trinity-Bellwoods park so we’ll have to TTC it *fuck*.

If you want to come and cheer us on, and you live in Toronto, show up at Trinity Bellwoods Park at 10:30 (yes, I just said that above). Bellwoods Street runs off Dundas and Queen a couple of blocks up from Bathurst but before Dufferin. We’ll be the team with the red shirts and black pants, or red and white and black shirts for those with the uniform that says “Mayhem”. I lent my uniform to a girl last year since I wasn’t playing but I never got it back so I just wear a red shirt.

Last night’s game was probably the most pathetic we’ve ever played. Our third-base man left within half an hour for a doctor’s appointment, and he’s one of our best players. My son couldn’t play cuz he couldn’t get off work at his new job, although today he’s got the day off.

Even the best players we had left kept making stupid mistakes like not catching the ball, or dropping it and then circling around to find it and then being too slow to throw it anywhere, or else throwing the ball and throwing it 6 feet above somebody’s head.

The pathetic people were at their most pathetic and the good people were also pathetic for some reason. So let’s hope we can rally on our Saturday play-off – we’ll still get a trophy if we win the consolation.

Right now I just finished doing it finally. Yes, you know what. Finally. Yes, it was days ago I talked about it but we’ve been busy.

Tonight my daughter will be coming for the weekend (and coming to the play-offs) and my son is coming for dinner. We’ve put a bunch of stewing beef (made some sauce) into the slow cooker and we’ll cook up some noodles and have a nice stroganoff for dinner. That’ll stick to the ribs. I’m going to go out and make a cinnamon crumble cake for dessert. It’s packaged, just add water and egg, but I had a sample of it at Costco (hence the reason I bought it) and it was delicious.

Oh the family dinner. How nice. We don’t do stuff like this often.

So I better get going and make that cake, I have no idea how long it takes to cook. And if I don’t do it now, I’ll probably forget to do it. Ta ta, dahlings.

Good luck with the game, and may The Force be with you as far as that cake goes.
