Why is it?
How come, once you get old (or old-ER, as in my case) you can’t move any way for more than a couple of minutes, otherwise your body stiffens up and starts hurting?
Case in point: I was half-lazing on the couch, I decided to lean my head over onto the cushion, and a couple of minutes later my neck was sore from doing that. If I try to sit cross-legged and it’s more than a couple of minutes, I can hardly get up cuz my legs are all stiff, never mind trying to walk normally after that.
And not only that but, even though I have padding on my ass, if I sit on a bench it seems like I have ass bones! digging into the bench and I have to switch positions.
If I kneel on something hard (like the bathroom counter when the light bulb has burnt out), once again my knees are killing me.
I don’t understand why everything you do has suddenly become pain inducing.
I only thought of this because today I was off work (my first sick day after 7 months) because I was feeling pukey. Don’t ask me why, maybe when you get old-ER you just start feeling pukey now and then for no apparent reason. So I stayed home, and that was the reason I laid my head on the cushion, only to feel worse afterwards.
My honey went out and got us some wings for dinner. I know, not exactly medicinal, but I felt hungry and they seemed to do the trick… having all that food in me seems to have made me feel a bit better.
However, I just can’t get over this aging body thing. Even at baseball last night I had to question why the back of my thighs always feels like I’ve pulled a muscle – this after I have to go up three flights of stairs to my home, and a very steep flight of stairs to my work.
I think I can hardly wait til I’m one of those old geezers who doesn’t know WTF is going on, and lays in bed all day (or at least wears pajamas all day) in retirement.
Oh, thinking of that reminds me of my mother. My mother seems to always be in bed having a snooze any time (day or evening) that we go to visit her. But my mother is the first one to be complaining about how she hardly gets any sleep at night. No wonder she gets no fricking sleep at night… she sleeps all day!
Enough about oldness – it’s a sad, sad thing (that’s coming faster than I expected).
