New Domain Again

What a boring, farging day today was. The only thing that was interesting (and it wasn’t) was that my son came to pick up the rest of his stuff to take with him to his new place.

All I did there was follow him around, neither of us with much to say, but it was some company since my honey was out golfing with his son.

All the stores were closed (except for Tim’s, but you can only drink so much coffee) so I couldn’t even go window shop. You know I’m all about the window shopping – or perhaps it’s the window spending that’s more like me.

I rented The Hills Have Eyes, uncut version, for tonight. Who gives a shit… uncut. Trimmed, shaven, hairy, just a little bit off the sides. Uncut. pffft. I’ll let you know what I thought of it tomorrow probably.

I’ve moved my site again because of that useless provider, Vistapages.com. They let my domain expire by not answering my customer support question where I asked them, “scuze me, isn’t my domain hosted with you for free now – and yet I’m getting renewal notices”.

I can’t believe it was too difficult a question to answer. And then when I woke up this morning I found that I had no site. I got in touch with their customer support – you know, that live chat crap, that takes half an hour for someone to answer a question, and they said I’d have to talk to billing, who of course are only there Monday to Friday.

So I renewed my domain at the old provider, and then I switched back to Netfirms, with relative ease. I’ve asked vistapages.com to cancel my site and provide me with a refund, since I’d paid in advance for two years. I’ll be anxiously awaiting their response on Tuesday (since Monday’s a holiday).

I just can’t believe how hard it is to find a good provider. It’s disgusting to pay for and put up with the shit. Try our great customer service… submit a ticket and get no answer. Talk to our live chat assistant and wait 13 minutes between answers. When I signed up with vistapages.com they had support staff to talk to. About a week later there were telephone messages that said go to their website – no more staff to talk to.

If I knew anything at all about php I’d set up my own server and host it myself. Unfortunately, I don’t.

Anyway, enough ranting. Assholes at vistapages.com. Want a review vistapages? I’d be happy to give one.

I wouldn’t mind one for Netfirms. I’m thinking about taking the plunge and getting my own domain. Narrowed it down between Netfirms and Ehosting.

Lyndon, I can’t speak for ehosting, having never used them, but I do know that Netfirms will let you host multiple domains, and even if you sign up for one of their less expensive plans (like I did this time since I haven’t gotten my refund back from vistapages.com), you still get one mysql database that you can manually install WordPress with. If you sign up for the next-priced one (which I have on other domains) you can have multiple mysql databases, and have Netfirms’ own installation of WordPress.

Netfirms has an affiliate plan where the referred will make money by you signing up. So if you want to go with Netfirms, you could make me a couple of bucks – click on the link I have under “META” that reads: Netfirms Web Hosting to make me some money *please*.

Well if I decide to go with Netfirms, I’ll definitely click the link on your site!

Just some facts here, before you go and make VistaPages look like a “horrible” company.

1. Your account was past the 30-day money back guarantee.
2. We do not provide refunds after the 30-day money back guarantee on pre-paid accounts, this is clearly mentioned in our TOS.
3. You were not registered for 2 years, but rather only 1 year.
4. Your domain name was not regsitered through us, or transferred to us and was held by NetFirms. The domain expired with NetFirms. Your web hosting account was active. If you had renewed your domain name with Netfirms, your web site would have popped back up with no problems.

If you have any questions, you can direct them directly to me, and I will be more than happy to look into it; but I did some research on your tickets before posting here.

Thank you for your time and best of luck with NetFirms.
