Dog Tired

I was running around like crazy today since we have an ‘event’ tomorrow at work. All that running around makes me tired and able to fall asleep at 10:00 at night.

Dog Tired Tomorrow my snookey is going to work with me. He’s volunteering at my work even though that means taking a day off his work. How’s that for generosity? I’m just hoping it doesn’t rain since the event is outdoors (and the forecast right now says 70% chance of thunder storms).

I suppose I should be thrilled to have a job after 9 months of unemployment. But let me tell ya, sometimes I wish that I could find a place that’s organized; that everything that happens isn’t some last minute thing. Is there such a place?

Sleeping DogsI’ve had worse jobs I guess. At least at this job everyone seems to be treated as an equal. Opinions are valued and it’s not like a union job – you’re not stuck doing the things ‘in your job description’. Frankly, I don’t even have a job description right now. One of these days when we’re not busy planning an event, I’ll have to write up one for myself.

What’s the worst thing you’ve ever found in a job? To me I think it was being treated like a schlub… working somewhere where you have the big, important title, and yet they turn around and tell you to photocopy something for them like you’re the office clerk.

I’m sure there are worse things, although the self-esteem issues are probably right up there on my list.

I had one where in the intro to the new guy (me), the boss started screaming at one of the programmers and was so loud and all that he had spit flying off his teeth spraying all over the place.

My resignation letter:

Dear Gary, I resign. BFG

I guess I haven’t been in the working world long enough to have any great stories (or horrible in this case), but currently my opinion is that there’s nothing worse than having a job with no challenge. It doesn’t matter what the challenge is (well, perhaps if it was to tolerate nightmarish co-workers…) as long as there is something to rack your brain.

BFG, I like the conciseness of your letter  , and Minna, a challenge would be nice. I can’t remember the last time I had a challenging job. It seems the only challenges over the past 10 (or maybe it’s 20) years have been to get the things done within some totally unrealistic timeframes. That’s challenging, yes, but not quite the challenges I’d like. 8O
