No Sooner Do I…
say something about my mother, than I get a call today to tell me that my mother is in the hospital. I knew something was up because nobody usually calls my cell phone during the day, and all of a sudden, there it was… ringing.
My aunt called and said that my mother’s heart had stopped last night and she was taken to the hospital. I’m unclear on whether it was ‘the home’ that took her or if they dragged my aunt out of bed to take her there.
We went to visit tonight after work and they had her in the emergency ward with about 8 others. Apparently the hospital is too full, so they have no rooms to put her in.
She seemed ok (well, as ok as she usually seems), so I don’t know what the problem is/was. We may go again on Saturday when my daughter’s here and my mother’s in a room where more than one person is allowed in and there may be some chairs to sit on. I’m getting old myself, doncha know. I can’t be standing around a hospital room all night.
Now I’m going to go watch Earl which is coming on soon. According to the TV guide, The Office is not on tonight. Does that mean it’s finished? I don’t know. I wish that TV would be like the old days, where you could depend on your favourite show being on a certain night every week at a certain time unless there was some speech by some politico that preempted everything (and we really hated that).
I’m just happy it’s Thursday and there’s only one more work day left, with almost everybody out of the office tomorrow. Things should seem a little more relaxed.
