King Kong the Sequel

I told you that we were going to get the King Kong movies version 1 and 2. Well yesterday we did just that. We headed off to Blockbuster and bought the first version (1933) and rented the second (1976).

In the afternoon we watched version 1, and, ya know, it wasn’t that bad. The effects for a 1933 movie were pretty good… I was impressed. Now the acting… that’s another story.

Well we went nuts with movies at Blockbuster. We bought Shadow of Fear (just because it was $6.99) and we rented A Sound of Thunder. I can’t believe that Ben Kingsley has sunk so low.

A Sound of Thunder was so bad we ended up turning it off and putting on Shadow of Fear, which was also bad, but came in a little ahead of the first one we’d turned off, so we finished watching it. I guess this was one of James Spader’s ‘in-between’ roles – in between good roles.

There are some really hoaky, predictable, poorly acted movies out there (and I seem to buy them all).

Then last night we put on King Kong version 2 with Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges. It was getting late and I’d had a few beers, so I just started conking out. I saw part of it, then woke, then conked out again (ahhhh, the lovely couch sleep).

I didn’t remember what a ditz Jessica Lange played in the movie. I’m always embarrassed for women when I see another woman acting so stupid. I may watch the very end today just to remember it.
