My beautiful car
For a few days my car was making a really strange noise, and feel, when driving and I figured it was the brakes. So my honey bought me the whole shebang, everything plus pads for the front and rear brakes ($158 at Auto Shop – or the option of $80 a wheel at Canadian Tire).
Yesterday, he tried to do the brakes. He had some trouble with a bolt on the one rear brake and couldn’t get it off. That meant I was without a car today, he had to drive me downtown to work and pick me up again at 5:00.
So he took the car in to a mechanic who had to take a blowtorch to that bolt, and apparently something had gotten at it to make it run all crooked, and pretty much cut against my brake pads, hence the strange noise.
Now for an additional $70 for the mechanic, and another $23 for a new bolt, my car is all fixed up and I can drive it again. Good thing, since I’ve got a meeting with someone tomorrow at 8:30 and there’s no fricking way I’d be taking the TTC and then going off to work.
Tomorrow night I’ve got an eye test at Costco ($50). My distance glasses are so screwed I can barely see out of one eye… it seems all blurry to me so I never wear them. I found a cool looking pair of glasses that I want to get when I get my new prescription and they’re only about $129, which is cheap when I think of how I paid $400 the last time I bought glasses (but those were the titanium ones, doncha know). I guess I should keep those titanium ones too since they were so expensive and get a new prescription put in.
I forgot to mention that we rented Good Night & Good Luck on the weekend – Edward R. Murrow story. I was expecting it to be really boring. I wasn’t looking forward to it. And I was right. It was pretty damned boring and it seemed to cut off mid-story. Don’t bother.
I’m off to watch The Donald soon. I’m so stinking tired today and I don’t know why. I’ll probably be passing out as soon as that’s over. Or with my luck, I won’t be, and I’ll be even more tired tomorrow.
