Pet Store
Did I tell you about our little trip to Yorkdale last week? Or should I say tripS?
I went one day to try to exchange Christmas gifts, but after circling the parking lots for half an hour and finding nothing, I decided to leave.
The second time my daughter and I went to Yorkdale, did the circling and driving all over God’s green earth to find a parking spot and I was just about to leave when I actually found a spot. Of course it was at the other end of the parking lot from where I wanted to be, but since I’d actually found a spot, I decided to take it and return gifts.
We did the usual line-up stuff and spent a couple of hours there. I can’t stand that mall. It’s always packed. It’s always overpriced.
My daughter wanted to look at PJ’s Pet Centre, so we went in to see some cute little puppies.
Did you know that cute little puppies now cost $2000-$4000 with easy monthly payments of $200? I couldn’t believe that. I could have another car for that kinda money. WTF do I care whether a dog is purebred? A dog’s a dog. Feed it, train it, luv it up. Pffft.
And not only that, but most of the puppies were in these glassed off little window boxes and most of them were sleeping, probably bored silly being stuck in those boxes.
But there were a few in cages on the floor, so we patted the puppies, cuz they’re so sweet. And they smelled. My hand smelled after patting dogs. Do these dogs ever get washed? It was gross. Then I had to walk around Yorkdale with a smelly hand.
I’d love to have a puppy. I once paid about $300 for one and then had to give him away because he wasn’t taking well to my apartment. His name was Squid and he was sweet, but not overly bright. And I kept him clean, so he didn’t smell up my hand.

Just wanted to stop by and say ‘thanks!’ for checking out Quarter Rest!
I can’t believe pet stores are asking that much for a puppy … wait, I guess I can. I haven’t been in a pet store that sells puppies or kittens in a very long time. It just stresses me out way too much (and the staff too, I suspect). Ah – I’ll stop before I get started!
