Our Celebrations

On the 24th we were feeling a little partyish, and my son was going to be home that night, so we invited my daughter and the ex to stay over that night so we could have a Christmas Eve Euchre Fest.

So my daughter watched a movie and the 4 of us got snackered playing euchre, up til 3:30 a.m.

The worst part was that I had to get up at 10:00 on Christmas to get the stuffing for the turkey started. My daughter and I worked on that, and when everybody woke up, we had the big bacon and eggs breakfast (at 1:00).

That would probably explain why I was almost too full to eat Christmas dinner. Not full enough to avoid it altogether, but full enough to have dinner and be as stuffed as that turkey itself.

The stuffing was terrific this year, BTW. Some years I put just the right amount of spices in it, and some years I can’t remember WTF I do every year.

We pretty much sat around all Christmas day watching movies. And if there ever were movies you want to steer clear of, these are them: Four Brothers, and Troy. I won’t even bother with my little voting box for these, I’ll just warn you that they are overly long, drawn-out, crappy films, where even the action scenes don’t qualify as “keeping-you-awakable”.

Today I plan to hit Tim’s numerous times. Can you believe that Tim’s was closed on Christmas! My son did the Tim run yesterday and after travelling far and wide to find an open one, ended up going to Coffee Time (whose coffee sucks).

Anyway, we’ve got enough turkey to last us for the rest of our live-long days (we bought a 25-pound turkey) and shall be looking up recipes on the net for variations in turkey dishes. I gave a shitload to my ex, but that doesn’t even make a dent in what’s left. Thank God we only cook this stuff once or twice a year.

How was your Christmas? What did Santa bring ya?

… among others …

My Christmas was nice, thank you. I warmly welcomed the extra day off (just one, blah) but I’m still twice as tired as I was last week. Yeah, I know. Saving the world from a WWIII can be exhausting — and my work is not over yet! (Yes… I’m talking about the game… how lame)
