Skeleton Key

I forgot to tell you about the movie we rented last night, Skeleton Key.

I thought it was ok, my honey thought it sucked.

It’s all about this woman (Kate Hudson) who takes a nursing job in a big house where Gena Rowlands is the wife and John Hurt is the guy who needs nursing because he’s had a stroke after being up in the attic.

So there’re all kinds of ghostly stories about past dwellers in the house, and how the attic door has been locked since this couple moved in, and they can’t get in it, but that’s a lie, and our nosy protagonist (Kate) seems to do a lot of snooping through this house, I can’t understand why since she’s been hired as a nurse. What the hell business does she have going through the house and nosing through everything?

Turns out that the wife is a possessed spirit of the previously living couple, who were conjurers in the ‘hoodoo’ practice, and the young lawyer is the husband of that couple, who left his ‘old self’ in John Hurt’s body. They take over Kate Hudson’s body since they need to get younger people to inhabit as the bodies they take over age.

While it was the usual predictable kind of horror movie, I didn’t find it as slow moving as some, hence I’ll stick with my rating that it was ok, regardless of my honey not liking it.
