On the Job Training
Last night was the first night on the new job. Really it was more of an orientation session than actual training.
We got to watch a video on sexual harassment; as if I need this, I had this kind of training in the government already, not to mention that I’d recognize it a mile away and, of course, would never be a perpetrator.
The night was a long one… at 7:10 I was wondering if it was time to go yet. Three more days of training and then I’ll be a professional whatever it is.
I hope I can stick this out, it should be better than the other job that I quit in that I’m not selling anything, and hopefully I’ll get a normal job during the day.
Thankfully, after a Powerpoint presentation last night, the trainer said we were free to leave, so that was at 9:00. That meant that I was home in time to see Rockstar: INXS. And my honey taped Canadian Idol for me so I can watch that today (if I feel like it).
I really should watch it since the final decision will be made tonight on whether Rex or Melissa wins.
I think Melissa’s got the better (as in on-key, nice singing quality) voice but Rex would be a little something different for an “Idol”. I think he could win just because of his presence and likability whereas Melissa reminds me of another Kelly Clarkson.
I guess you’ll see tonight. My honey might tape it for me too.
Which reminds me. He did not get the combo DVD/VCR player working. I forgot that we had a VCR hooked up in my daughter’s room, and he just taped it there. Apparently we don’t have the other one hooked up properly in order to use the VCR part (missing some cables or something). So I’ll only get to watch these shows in my daughter’s room.
That’s making me wonder now if they’re on one of those time shifting channels. Perhaps I won’t miss any of the shows I watch, I’ll be able to watch them at 11:00 at night.
My poor snookey was laying on the couch last night, ready to go to bed, so at 12:40 I said, “let’s go for it”. He was snoring away within seconds. We’ll see how this night work will affect us. I’ll get home ready for the evening’s activities and he’ll be ready to conk out.
