I Quit the Night Job

I didn’t tell you that after going to the night job the other night, I kinda walked out.

I met the supervisor and she sat with me at the start, I guess it was supposed to be like reminder training since I hadn’t done any of it for 2 weeks since I finished the training.

The supervisor was a real snot  . I didn’t like her.

It started with me arriving early for work and she telling me that I could sit at the computer, but not log on. So I didn’t. I just sat there watching what one of the other workers was doing.

Then the supervisor came at the prescribed work time and said, “I told you NOT to log on!”. I said, “I didn’t”. She said, “well look at the screen, it’s logged on, I told you not to touch it!” and I said, “I didn’t touch anything, it was like that when I sat down”. Then she rattled the mouse and saw that it wasn’t logged on, to which she said, “oh, it looked like you were logged on”.

There were little scenes like that during her time sitting with me. I’d pretty much had enough of her. At one point where I was typing some numbers into the computer she said, “you can use the keypad at the side” and I said, “I don’t really know the keypad, I never use it”, and she said, “well, use the keypad at the side”, to which I said, “I know how to type, I won’t be using the keypad”, just to shut her up.

Anyway, after about 45 minutes there I decided it was not for me. The supervisor was back at her station and I said, “I think I’m going to go, my cold is making me cough too much”. It seemed that she hadn’t heard me. She left and went over to talk to some other supervisor.

So I figured I’d gather my stuff and tell her again on my way out. As I started walking towards her she looked at me (glared at me) and I said, “I’m gonna go”, whereupon she told me that if I wanted to leave, I’d have to ask one of the other supervisors for permission.

This kinda floored me. I thought, I don’t need permission to walk out of a job, you stupid ditz. But since she was glaring at me, and putting her bossly foot down, I said, “alright, who am I supposed to tell?” She said that I could “ask one of the people over there in the blue cubicles”.

So I went over to one guy and I said, “I’m going to leave”. He asked me whether my supervisor was aware that I was leaving and I said, “yes, I told her that I’d be leaving” and said good-bye.

Then I went home and watched Martha Stewart’s new apprentice show (very much like The Donald’s show) and a good time was had by one and all. The End.

So I’m jobless again. I have an interview on Monday out in Mississauga and an interview on Tuesday out in Scarberia. Two more jobs that I don’t expect to get but, what the hey, it gives me something to do with my days.
