Open Blinds in my Face
Thank you telephone, I didn’t really want to sleep in today.
The Interview: I don’t think yesterday’s interview went too well. I probably won’t hear back for about a week since the agency woman has gone away, but I’m not expecting to hear an offer.
I was told it was a line organization, where even the “head” knew everyone by name and talked to them. I think that’s special in a big, important guy… that he actually talks with the schlubs.
I was asked for my 3 areas of improvement. Three! I don’t have any areas of improvement – and that’s not good on an interview. But as far as work goes, there’s no area I need improving in… I’m good at everything I do. That’s not hubris, there’s just nothing for me to improve (in my eyes).
If he’d asked for weaknesses I may have been able to come up with something, but not areas of improvement. I ended up saying that I haven’t been able to take as many courses as I’d like to because costs were “prohibitive”. Ya, that’s a real area of improvement alright.
There was more but I don’t really remember it now. Of course I’d take the job if they offered it, I’m just thinking that they won’t offer it.
Luckily for me I got home just before the big torrential rains started in my neighbourhood around 3:00.
There was hail on the computer room window, and no sooner had it started then it blew out the computers. I had a problem restarting mine. I couldn’t even boot with the last known ‘good’ configuration so I ended up in safe mode restoring to an earlier date. That finally worked.
But the heavy rains lasted for hours and were supposed to restart last night, but they didn’t. The good thing was that I got to finish my book and go on to the next one. I think I’ll do a bit of reading today. I’d like to take some books down to the old smoking room since I took 4 of them the last time I was there.
Oh, I did have a DSO Exploit on my computer too, but I found this great site which helped me get rid of it.
Ok, I’m bored already. Time to go find something to do. Maybe I’ll vacuum since the vacuum cleaner is out. It’s out because yesterday, when I saw that the ashtray needed emptying, I decided to drop it right there on the floor in front of me instead of in the garbage. I’m quirky sometimes.
