I’m Cool

So the air conditioner guy came. He took apart the air conditioner and it was all goopy inside *ook*.

He asked for an old towel so that he could place the air conditioner on top of the trunk. Then, inside my home, he took out a wire brush and scraped off all the outside dirt from the loopy things.

I won’t bother mentioning how much dirt was flying around the living room. He asked if I had a vacuum cleaner and I gave it to him, but he didn’t want it. I guess he was just making sure that I’d be able to vacuum up after him.

After all that, he filled it up with more freon. I thought there must be a leak but he said that, no, freon properties change – especially when the air conditioner’s dirty – and then the freon starts condensing, or evaporating, and then you have to replace it.

He also told me that we were likely to have a fire if we kept using the extension cord we were using, which was about 9 feet long. He said it needed to be plugged in directly, or failing that, have the smallest length cord we could get. That cord was awfully hot at the plug and he showed me what looked like a burn mark.

So I went to Home Depot but the shortest extension cord I could find was 6 feet, so I got it because it was a 14 gauge cord like we need for the air conditioner. My honey said that he’d make one if I couldn’t find one, so we’ll see if he wants to do that and then we’ll return the other one.

So the air conditioner’s working again now. I’ve vacuumed. And it all cost only $160. The guy wanted cash… hmmm, I wonder why, Mr. Live Down in the States All Winter.

It’s cool in the living room now. A much better spot to sleep in.

“Mr live down in the states all winter”, servicing aircons down there too huh? Sounds like a bloody good business to me.

If it’s all “cash”, I guess it’s quite a lucrative business he’s got going here and there.
