Walking Again
I should mention that I almost walked out of the job last night. Yes, again.
The environment is one of a punch-in time clock types, which I haven’t worked for in over 20 years. The transition manager was telling us that you get a 45-minute lunch (at 4:00 p.m.) and a 15-minute break at (7:00 p.m.).
I asked if we were allowed to go and fill up our water bottles if they were empty (you’re not allowed anything but water at your desk – no coffee even, just a capped water bottle). I was told that if you had to go to the washroom, or go get water, whatever, that the time away from your desk would be deducted from your pay cheque.
!!!!! I don’t know about you, but I have never worked in that type of environment. And I have never been glued to my desk, regardless of the fact that most jobs I’ve had involved sitting at a desk, on the computer or phone, etc. I’m finding this unreal.
And have I mentioned that the hours just dra-a-a-a-a-g-g-g on? I’m trying to stick it out, boys and girls, because I’m still “on training” and will be until I finish Saturday. If I don’t last that long, I won’t be paid for this two weeks of training.
So get out your rosaries and make this your prayer: “God, please help jafer stick out her training so she’ll get paid. She doesn’t ask for much, just some pissy money for her time. Lord give her strength and help her to carry on with her new job until she can at least find another one.”
