Almost a Walk-Out

Well, I didn’t write last night cuz I just wasn’t in a writing mood.

Today we got let off work an hour early again and so I was pretty happy about that – it’s been every day since I started.

However, today I almost walked out of the job. Keep in mind that this is a huge company with about 500 employees. I was job shadowing today.

In the morning I was sitting with someone who had a drummer sitting behind her. He was tapping his pen, stomping his foot, drumming away like he was some stinking musician.

This afternoon I was sitting with another woman in her workstation where, on the other side of her in another little cubicle, a guy was sitting, kicking the workstation.

I was losing it. I won’t get into the broad who was sitting on the other side of us – the one who wasn’t just “jiggling” but who was almost sliding back and forth in her chair for the entire time we were there.

I kept thinking that I had to leave; that I would not be able to tolerate this work environment; that I would be nuts the first time I had to sit near these people.

Then it occurred to me that I didn’t have any other job to go to. If I walked out, especially at this point, I wouldn’t even get paid for the time I’ve been there so far.

So, I went to the washroom. I tried to ignore the drummers, jigglers, and kickers and came back to shadow some more. It was the longest day in fricking history but I made it through.

Tomorrow I start working nights.

So, you just found a use for your MP3 player then. I mean it will cut out all that extra noise.

That’s a good idea – if it was allowed – but it’s not.
