It's sad (at least it would be to me) to lose your old messages everytime some dumbwit makes you move... It's not such a big operation to change the blog directory. You just need to change the name of the directory in FTP client or something and then the Site url and WP url values at Options. It might require some PHPMyAdmin usage but there's plenty of information on it at the <a href="http://wordpress.org/support/" rel="nofollow">WordPress forums</a>.
